Vice President of Mortgage Lending · The Joel Schaub Team, Rate
NMLS #224512
For more than two decades, Joel Schaub has been helping Chicago-area buyers navigate one of life’s biggest financial decisions with confidence. As the top individual lender at Rate for purchase mortgages in 2025 for Chicago and the company’s longest-tenured top-producer, Schaub has built his business on relationships, responsiveness and an unwavering commitment helping agents grow their business.
Known for delivering a concierge-level experience, Schaub leads his team with a philosophy that every client and agent deserve exceptional communication, expert guidance and a smooth path to the closing table. That commitment has earned his team more than 400 five-star Google reviews. Schaub often says that obtaining a mortgage should feel less like navigating a crowded airport and more like flying private: both journeys reach the same destination, but one is significantly more personalized, efficient and enjoyable.
Real estate has been part of Schaub’s life from an early age. Inspired by his aunt and uncle, successful Realtors in Traverse City, Michigan, he developed a passion for the industry long before beginning his mortgage career. Today, he finds the greatest fulfillment in helping clients make informed financial decisions while turning the dream of homeownership into reality.
Beyond originating loans, Schaub has become a trusted partner to Chicago’s real estate community. Alongside his wife and creative director, Christine, and vice president of business development, Ciara Miller, The Joel Schaub Team invests heavily in helping agents elevate their businesses through educational programming, strategic marketing initiatives, community events, sponsorships and creative collaborations.
Away from work, Schaub enjoys spending time with his family including his wife, one year-old daughter and dog, Louie. He also revels in cheering on the Chicago Cubs, taking to Lake Michigan aboard his boat, Clear to Close and supporting organizations that strengthen the local community. Whether serving clients or giving back, Schaub believes meaningful relationships are the foundation of everything he does.
